18g 72-Cavity PET Preform Injection Molding System

In the PET preform industry, productivity and stability are always key concerns for customers. To meet the growing demand for lightweight and high-output production, we delivered a complete 18g 72-cavity preform injection molding solution to our client, achieving both high efficiency and consistent quality.
This project is based on a 72-cavity mold with a single preform weight of 18g. The system runs steadily with a cycle time of around 12.8 seconds per shot, which is already at a high level in the industry. This enables the customer to significantly increase output within the same production time.
For the take-out system, we adopted a side-entry robot with a three-station design. Compared with conventional systems, it offers several clear advantages:
- Shorter cycle time: three stations operate simultaneously, reducing idle time
- Higher stability: smooth and continuous motion without interfering with mold operation
- Better preform quality: gentle side-entry handling minimizes deformation risk
- Higher automation level: less manual intervention, ensuring continuous production
With the three stations working in coordination, preform removal, cooling, and transfer can be carried out at the same time. This makes the overall cycle more efficient and further improves productivity.
In actual production, the system has demonstrated excellent stability and repeatability. The preforms show good appearance and consistent weight, fully meeting the requirements for downstream blowing processes. After installation, the customer achieved higher output while also reducing labor and operating costs.
